The freezing Easter weather failed to put off 9 Hares who made their way to Sudbury on Good Friday to take part in this years Sudbury Fun Run- always a well supported chairty event starting in North St & finishing at Gt Cornard Upper School.
382 runners completed the course along with 170 walkers, with several thousand pounds being raised for charity
First Hare home was Paul Morgan 31 56 33rd just pipping Steve Hunt 37th 32.04. In 54th was Steve Bowen 37.17 91st Daren Allen 37.47 followed by Jane Morgan 1 second behind.
Encouragingly a further 4 lady Hares then came past the finishing line Jackie Kirk 44.58 Sarah Grimsey 50.51 Nina Hawes & Frankie Dowie in 51.34
Then on to Easter Sunday. The Stowmarket Half Marathon- An unseasonal blizzard almost lead to the event being cancelled, with only 140 out of the 270 entered braving the treatcherous conditions to reach the venue.
The race took place in slightly improving conditions underfoot, with a mixture of snow,slush and the odd bit of clear road, but a biting northerly made conditions very unpleasant- but memorable !
Pride of place went to first time Half Marathoners- Martin Ellingham, 93rd in 1.51.51 as well as Vicki Dawson 2.11.25 and Emily Dawson 2.17 29
Steve Hunt lead the Hare contingent with a pleasing time of 1.33.11 24th. Paul Morgan 1.41.55 & Daren Allen 1.45.20
